PBC is the largest of the Premera family of companies, which together serve nearly 1.7 million members primarily in the Pacific Northwest. Premera and its affiliate companies provide health, life, vision, dental, stop-loss and disability benefits and other related products and services.
Customer Situation
Client is one of the largest HealthCare Insurance Service Provider in North America. Business Continuity Planning tool is in place to ensure uninterrupted business operations. With the increase in mobile workforce, client identified the need to provide a means to the workforce which would help them access the needy information faster and on the go.
Software Development Partnership
Premera partnered with Congruent to build the BCP web application which enables them to perform the planning activities while the execution happens with the eSponder/NC4 based tools. Premera’s executive team strategized to build the mobile version of the BCP tool which would work across platforms enabling Premera’s workforce to get access to CallTree, Being a trusted partner enabling Premera to build the BCP web application, Premera partnered with Congruent to build the mobile version of the BCP tool.
Congruent worked over a period of 3 months to build the basic functionalities followed by the additional means of reporting, sms gateway integration and Windows Phone support over a period of 2 months.
Congruent built the mobile web site in parallel with the enhancements to the BCP web application. Iterative approach is chosen to build and complete the application. Entire execution was meticulously followed by regular status updates and constant monitoring over web –based Team Foundation Server (TFS) setup.
What is BCP CallTree?
BCP CallTree is the mobile web application built with ASP.NET 4.0. The application provides the Premera workforce an option to generate the Call Tree that provides them with ability to get the contact information of different associates who are part of the BCP processes.
The tool also allows a user to generate the plan report, email it to the targeted users and/or download it to the phone for reference.
This application works on Windows Phone 7/8, Android and iOS devices. Users can access the application using the mobile browser. None of the information get stored locally and thereby making it going through secure accessibility options.
